Meet The Band
 
 

Jay has been performing professionally for over 30 years.

His music has taken him throughout the United States. His guitar and vocal styles are deeply rooted in R&B and funk.

Jay does most of the writing for the band, which regularly plays over 30 original songs.

 

Jay Whitney

A singer and percussion player with Big Mouth and a bass player by trade, Rick has played in a number of local bands, including "Los Desperados,"
"The Hooligans," "The Krustys," and even now, a fun little blues side-project called "Big Daddy and the Soul Injectors."

Rick has also done radio jingles for Joe To Go, Forward Financial Credit Union, and Island Resort and Casino. "I consider myself to be a pretty lucky guy, in that I've somehow managed to surround myself with some extraordinary and very talented musicians over the years, and the guys in Big Mouth are certainly no exception." "Also, I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to my Uncle, Dewey Rosman, who recently passed away. He got me started on a tuba back in 1972, and he's the reason I play music today. Thanks Dewey!!"

A member of Big Mouth since New Year's Eve 2004, Rick is married to his lovely (and understanding) wife Melissa, and they have a daughter, Lauren Marie, born October 25th, 2004. Life is Good!!

Paul Sowinski

Bass/Vocals

Paul is from Wausau, WI and now lives in Door County, Wisconsin. He graduated from UWGB and is employed as a music teacher.

Paul has played in numerous jazz, rock, blues, country, bluegrass, and Dixieland bands including: The Great Lakes Rhythm Kings, Off Center Jazz Band, Amnesians, River City 6, Mid-Life Crisis, Ste Me John, Cat Braaten Band, Green Bay Packer Band, Green Bay Symphony, Erick Lewis and Andy Ratliff Band, Doc Heidi and the Pills, LeJazz Hot.

He has been in Big Mouth since it began in the early 90’s. Paul plays guitar, mandolin, violin, as well as electric and upright basses. Paul has performed in numerous professional theatre runs including: “Always – Patsy Cline”, The Taffetas, Forever Plaid, and has played “Eddie” in Pump Boys and Dinettes. Paul recently did four separate tours throughout the Virgin Islands in ’04.

Paul enjoys gardening, fishing, camping, travel, sports, and socializing.

Brad Miller

Brad has been playing drums and percussion in local bands for the past 25 years. He has played with BB Shine, The Hooligans, and is a current member of Big Daddy and the Soul Injectors. When not playing in Big Mouth, Brad works and teaches at Heid Music Co. in Green Bay.

Matt Buchman

Piano/Keyboards

Mathew Buchman is an Associate professor and director of jazz studies at UW – Stevens Point. Buchman received he M.M. in Improvisation from the University of Michigan and his B.M. in composition and theory from Lawrence University. Additional studies have included composition with Lyle Mays and Ken Schaphorst, and jazz piano with John Harmon and Ellen Rowe.

A native of Wisconsin, Buchman has toured the United States, Canada, and Germany and remains active as a jazz pianist in large and small jazz ensembles in the Midwest.

Nathan Behling

Trumpet

One of the original Power Tool Horns, Nathan has been playing professionally for over 25 years. He has performed with a wide variety of groups including R&B horn sections, big bands, dixieland bands, symphonies, and polka bands.

He has performed locally with artists such as Manhattan Transfer, The Temptations, Lou Rawls, Bob Hope, and many others. He also has several CD recordings and television appearances to his credit.

Is currently a co-owner of Made Ya Look Inc., a video, and audio post production facility where he is a staff musician/composer and audio engineer.

John has been playing in groups for over 30 years, and has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada. His playing has been featured on numerous CD's and commercials, and has also been the recipient of many advertising awards for his compositions.

Marc Jimos

Marc has had a wide-range of experiences. From 1986-1996 he was a member of the “Green Bay Packer Band”. In 1989-1991 he was a member of the band “Streetlife”. A short time after that he joined “Big Mouth” where he was one of the founding members of the Power Tool Horn Section.


In addition to his work with “Big Mouth”, he has also performed in the pit orchestras of national touring productions of over twenty Broadway shows including, "Wicked", the “The Producers”, “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, “West Side Story” and “Little Shop of Horrors". He has worked with performers including Bob Hope, Lou Rawls, Dionne Warwick, Peebo Bryson, Aaron Neville, Sheena Easton, The Manhattan Transfer, Phillip Bailey, Roberta Flack, Bob Newhart, Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons, Wayne Newton, Jeffery Osborne, Johnny Mathis, and Michael McDonald.


Marc has been a instrumental music teacher at Ashwaubenon High School since 1992. 

Bill Dennee

Trombone

Bill Dennee, an original member of the horn section, is currently the middle school band director at Denmark Middle School. He also taught ten years in the Algoma School District.

Bill has been playing professionally in the Green Bay area for the past fifteen years. Besides Big Mouth he performs with Bay City Swing, A Tribute to Frank Sinatra, and the Wisconsin Jazz Orchestra. He has performed locally with The Four Tops, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Art Garfunkel, Bob Hope, and Lee Greenwood. He also played trombone and tuba on the Green Bay Packer DVD/Video “Legends of Lambeau”.
